We spoke to Mike Hoffman, Fire Safety Consultant at Covenant Health.

Covenant Health Canada is a healthcare organization based in Alberta, Canada, committed to providing quality health services across the province. Our facilities include hospitals, continuing care centers, and specialized institutes, all dedicated to delivering compassionate care and innovative health solutions.

How has your work or organisation changed since you started using the VR Fire Trainer?

Since integrating the VR Fire Trainer into our training programs, we've observed significant improvements in staff preparedness and confidence in handling fire emergencies. The VR training lets employees practice in a lifelike fire situation, helping them stay calm and respond better in real emergencies. Instead of just learning from books or lectures, they get to practice in a way that feels real and hands-on.

Do you have any key metrics for your improvement?

So far, over 344 staff members at different Covenant Health locations have completed the VR fire extinguisher training. Many employees feel more confident using fire extinguishers and handling fire emergencies. While we are still collecting exact data, staff feedback shows they feel more prepared and less hesitant in real situations. The VR training also helps the environment and saves money because we don’t need to use real fire extinguishers during practice, reducing waste and costs.
