Virtual reality developers

“We integrate physical objects into VR to make the end-user get closer to what it feels like in the real world”Thor, Developer

XR adoption has increased in various business areas due to its capacity to overcome physical constraints and simulate products, scenarios, processes, and environments. Virtual and augmented reality delivers accurate, scalable, and immersive experiences by recreating realities and integrating physical objects into virtual worlds.

How can you get started?

We interviewed our developer Thor and our technical artist Andreas for insights on developing immersive and integrated experiences.

References

Ideally, CAD drawings are provided to developers as references. To translate the CAD model into VR, data on the CAD drawing is often reordered, textured, and optimized to be converted into a VR model. 2D collaterals can also be valuable resources if CAD models are unavailable.

Moreover, constant communication and substantial information are vital in ensuring that developers will be able to mimic real-world elements with precision and efficiency.

Integration

“There’s no VR way of interacting with a product in the virtual world”

Developers replicate both form and function of a certain product so that the end-user in the virtual world can interact with it in a similar fashion. After devices are simulated in a VR environment, sensors and trackers are placed into the device so that the virtual scenarios can dynamically adapt to user interactions in real-time.

Experience

VR developers ensure that the overall experience is user-centered, and the design accommodates all interactions in the VR environment. They aim not to replace the real world, but to mimic it as closely as possible. This way, the user can experience reality with an increased immersion and greater accuracy – and without the boundaries associated with it.

The seamless integration of VR and physical devices has tremendous potential in diverse fields, particularly in training. As VR bridges the gap between physical and virtual worlds, there would be increased opportunities for better learning and greater impact.
